Rob
Adams - Founder and Managing Director, AVLabs
Rob
Adams is the Managing Director of AV Labs, which he founded in
1999, when the firm raised its first fund of $60 million. In March
of 2001, the company closed its second fund of $125 million. AV
Labs is an early stage venture fund providing seed and Series
A financing to technology start ups with more than 20 companies
in its portfolio. It focuses on accelerating companies through
their early stage development by combining its bench of experienced
industry executives with its proven acceleration and validation
methodology.
Prior to starting AV Labs, Adams was a partner with TL Ventures.
Prior to the venture business, he was a technology executive for
18 years. He started his career with Lotus, joining the company
shortly after its IPO, and was instrumental in launching 1-2-3
for Macintosh and Notes. He subsequently founded and was CEO of
Business Matters, a venture backed developer of financial forecasting
and modeling products. He then ran sales and marketing for Pervasive
Software, a company he helped take public in 1997.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Purdue,
a Masters of Business Administration from Babson College, and
is a top ranked adjunct professor at the University of Texas'
Graduate School of Business. He is
actively working on a book called "A Good Hard Kick in the
Ass - Basic Training for Entrepreneurs" that will be published
by Random House - Crown Books in February 2002.
He
serves on the boards of AV Labs Development,
ForwardVue, FLQ Solutions, Ineto, Lane 15 Software, Newgistics,
Impart Technologies, and Telconic.
