Bio:
Nathan Morton discusses what he considers the most important
marketing lessons he has learned from his highly-successful career
with companies in all stages -- from start-ups to billion-dollar
organizations. Nathan Morton is a well-known leader in the retailing
and high technology industries. He has over 30 years of experience
in developing companies from early stage enterprises to significant
national chains.
Nathan is the former Chairman and CEO of CompUSA, the nations
largest and first chain of computer superstores. Mr. Morton developed
the company from two stores and $60 million in sales to a multi-billion
dollar business in less than five years, changing the technology-retailing
world. Prior to CompUSA, Mr. Morton was Senior Vice President
of operations at Home Depot, Inc. While at Home Depot, he implemented
the companys growth plan across the U.S. Home Depot had
21 stores and $400 million in sales when Mr. Morton joined the
company, and he assisted in creating a nation-wide company with
over 100 stores and $2 billion in sales. In his first 17 years
of business, Mr. Morton worked in retailing, progressing through
a variety of continually more responsible positions at leading
companies such as Two Guys Discount Department Stores and Target
Stores.
He also was the President and CEO of Open Environment Corporation,
a client/server enterprise software company, which he developed,
built, and then sold to Borland, now known as Inprise.
